Question 1 of 5
What traffic may use a cycle lane accompanied by a continuous white line?
Explanation: A cycle track is for the use of cyclists and motorised wheelchairs. No other vehicles may cross into or over a mandatory cycle track unless this is necessary in order to leave a side road or a property adjacent to the cycle track.
Question 2 of 5
If a vehicle breaks down on a motorway, what should a person do?
Explanation: When a vehicle breaks down on a motorway, a driver should move the vehicle to the hard shoulder, use the roadside phone to contact the Gardaí, and do not place a warning device on the motorway. The driver should never try to do repairs themselves in the hard shoulder.
Question 3 of 5
What is the effect of a worn exhaust?
Explanation: A worn exhaust system can have a number of effects, including increased noise from the engine and more environmentally damaging fumes (as they are not filtered properly). There are requirements to ensure vehicles are compliant with EU and Irish legislation. Vehicles are tested for compliance during road worthiness testing.
Question 4 of 5
What should a driver do if the vehicle's windows and mirrors are covered in ice?
Explanation: Make sure all the windows and mirrors are completely clear of ice so that the driver can safely observe road and traffic conditions all around. This is especially important when driving in slippery conditions. It is good practice to carry a can of de-icer in the vehicle and if possible to fill the washer reservoir with a de-icing agent.
Question 5 of 5
How do you make sure your vehicle is parked safely?
Explanation: When parking make sure you do not interfere with normal traffic flow and that your vehicle does not disturb, block or endanger other road users.
