Do I need to resit the theory test?

From 1 November 2026, some learners renewing their permit must sit the theory test again. Answer 3 questions to check.

1How many learner permits have you held, including your current one?
2Have you taken a driving test in the last 2 years?
3Has your learner permit been expired for 2 years or more?

Answer all 3 questions to see your result.

Applies to renewals from 1 November 2026, for cars (B), work vehicles (W), motorcycles and mopeds. Always confirm with the NDLS before you renew.
